The main goal of the NIF is to promote research and development to increase the competitiveness of enterprises. The direct goal of the NIF is to encourage the implementation of research and development projects initiated and implemented in enterprises in order to develop new or improved products, processes or services aimed at enhancing economic efficiency, increasing innovation potential and technological level of enterprises, increasing of private investment for them, increasing the dynamics of innovation processes.
The NIF encourages the development of innovation in research and development projects by financing the development of innovations (technological levels of readiness from TRL 3 to TRL 7 inclusive) that must not reach the market / finished market product (not reaching technological levels of readiness from TRL 8 to TRL 9). For the purposes of these rules, "innovation" means a new product / service or technology or a significantly improved product, service or technology that would create market advantages and increase the competitiveness of enterprises. innovation, eligible activities and costs for NIF financing are regulated in the current rules and the accompanying documents.
